New Sermon series on Philippians.

Today we begin a new sermon series over seven weeks looking at the Book of Philippians. This is a letter that the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Philippi (modern day north-east Greece). Louise and I had the privilege of visiting the site a few years ago. The background to the letter comes in Acts 16:6-40, so do have read of the setting for the letter. Ten years later Paul is in prison in Rome (AD62), he is visited by Epaphroditus who has travelled 800 miles from Philippi to bring him a gift from the church. There were struggles in the Philippian church, persecution, false teaching and quarrels.Despite this Paul spends the letter mainly encouraging the Philippians to persevere and there is joy in his words. Our series will consider how to have confidence in God and the Christian life, we pray it will be relevant, helpful, encouraging and practical in this spring of change and possibilities.

So these words can be truly owned by us all.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again;Rejoice! (Philippians 4:4)
