About Sutton Parish

Sutton Parish is part of St Helens Deanery and is home to three unique and beautiful Anglican churches – All Saints, St Nicholas’ and St Michael’s & All Angels. Each church has a rich history, but they are more than that. They are a place of refuge and safety where people are welcomed and comforted by the love of Jesus, right across Sutton.

What We Believe

As Christians we believe in the love of God, shown to all the world through God sending His one and only Son, Jesus, to free us from our sins which have distanced us as a people from God.

Jesus as our Lord and Saviour teaches us that God is very close to us, and wants dwell within our hearts and be part of our everyday lives. God, through His Holy Spirit, equips us so we can serve Him with joy in this life, and look forward to eternal life through the death and Resurrection of His Son.

If you would like to further your own spiritual journey or learn about the Christian faith, then please contact one of our team who will be more than happy to help.

Meet the Team

Rev Lynne Powell

Team Vicar

Hi, I am Lynne. I am team vicar in Sutton parish and have been here since July 2021. I am a spiritual director as well as a vicar, I love accompanying people on their spiritual journeys.

I believe God called me to Sutton to love and support people wherever they are in their lives, I will always be ready to listen and to pray with or for people as prayer is the foundation of our faith.

My partner Jo and I have 5 children between us and we love family life.

I am a creative person so love making things to give away and bless others. I love food and socialising with friends, I like losing myself in a good book, I love the cinema and theatre and listening to music.

Ann Griffiths

Licensed Reader

Hello, I’m Ann. I am the Licensed Reader in the Ministry Team and so my role is officially one of preaching, teaching and generally supporting the clergy. As well as leading and preaching at Sunday services, I also take funerals, assist at Messy Church and lead PramPushers (the Thursday morning Mums’ and Toddlers’ group).

I am retired from my job as a chartered physiotherapist, and I am thoroughly enjoying being the Granny of 2 little boys who are 4 and 1. My husband and I enjoy ballroom, Latin American and sequence dancing – but we would get nowhere on Strictly!

Lorraine Sheehan

Parish Administrator

Hi, my name is Lorraine and I have been the Parish Administrator for the Sutton Team for nearly two years. I live in Liverpool, with my husband Andy and we have a daughter called Rachel and grandson, who live in Wigan with the family hound, Bertie the Cockapoo.

There are many things I love about my job; the people, the church communities and the variety each day brings. I love being part of a team, that is loving, caring, prayerful and encouraging and the sense of family in which the Sutton Parish brings.

I like to spend my spare time with my family and close friends. My family would say I am annoyingly creative, as I enjoy crafting, card making and I have recently taken up knitting again, after thirty years.
