About Sutton Parish

Sutton Parish is part of St Helens Deanery and is home to three unique and beautiful Anglican churches – All Saints, St Nicholas’ and St Michael’s & All Angels. Each church has a rich history, but they are more than that. They are a place of refuge and safety where people are welcomed and comforted by the love of Jesus, right across Sutton.

Due to the current national restrictions, our services have changed

However, our church buildings are currently open for services from Sunday 14th March 2021. Please check our Church Online page for all service details.

Further information on current restrictions can be found on the Church of England website.

What We Believe

As Christians we believe in the love of God, shown to all the world through God sending His one and only Son, Jesus, to free us from our sins which have distanced us as a people from God.

Jesus as our Lord and Saviour teaches us that God is very close to us, and wants dwell within our hearts and be part of our everyday lives. God, through His Holy Spirit, equips us so we can serve Him with joy in this life, and look forward to eternal life through the death and Resurrection of His Son.

If you would like to further your own spiritual journey or learn about the Christian faith, then please contact one of our team who will be more than happy to help.

Meet the Team

Rev Simon Moore

Team Rector

Hi, I’m Simon. I’ve job shared as Vicar here in Sutton since 2017 as well as working with local churches in the areas of leadership and discipleship. I also work to encourage charities and church teams to tell the story of God and their story even better in teaching and preaching.

We look out onto the Dream sculpture which is great for the dog and running. I love films, curry, pies, walking, golf (more walking…) and avoiding queues. It’s a challenge and privilege to minister in Sutton and I’m so thankful for working with Louise and getting to know our community in any way, to show that God loves St Helens.

Rev Louise Moore

Hi, I’m Louise. I combine a part time counselling and pastoral supervision practice with being Rector in Sutton with Simon.

I love being involved with people who seek healing for their minds and souls. I am constantly amazed by the resilience and creativity and courage people I come across in my counselling and ministerial life. I am passionate about prayer and believe it to be the bedrock of church life.

My favourite things? My family, walking in the rain, Bruce Springsteen and a Sunday roast

Sam Rigby

Pastoral Assistant

Hi, I’m Sam. I’ve been part of the team since October 2020 and will be serving in Sutton Parish until next September. In my work, I help Sutton Parish to carry out a number of initiatives as well as leading and preaching at our Sunday services. I also co-ordinate our social action and foodbank ministry. I am also currently in the vocations process of the Church of England, exploring God’s call to the priesthood.

When I’m not working here in Sutton, I enjoy spending time with my partner, Emilia, catching up with my friends and family over a few drinks, travelling on a budget and lounging for hours binge-watching Netflix! But most of all, I love spending time worshipping our loving, liberating and life-giving God, meeting Him in word and sacrament.

Ann Griffiths

Licensed Reader

Hello, I’m Ann. I am the Licensed Reader in the Ministry Team and so my role is officially one of preaching, teaching and generally supporting the clergy. As well as leading and preaching at Sunday services, I also take funerals, assist at Messy Church and lead PramPushers (the Thursday morning Mums’ and Toddlers’ group).

I am retired from my job as a chartered physiotherapist, and I am thoroughly enjoying being the Granny of 2 little boys who are 4 and 1. My husband and I enjoy ballroom, Latin American and sequence dancing – but we would get nowhere on Strictly!

Lorraine Sheehan

Parish Administrator

Hi, my name is Lorraine and I have been the Parish Administrator for the Sutton Team for nearly two years. I live in Liverpool, with my husband Andy and we have a daughter called Rachel, who lives in Wigan with the family hound, Bertie the Cockapoo.

There are many things I love about my job; the people, the church communities and the variety each day brings. I love being part of a team, that is loving, caring, prayerful and encouraging and the sense of family in which the Sutton Parish brings.

I like to spend my spare time with my family and close friends. My family would say I am annoyingly creative, as I enjoy crafting, card making and I have recently taken up knitting again, after thirty years.

I have met a few members from each of the churches and I look forward to meeting many more
